We sit in certain way that is called seiza in kendo. In this video, you are going to learn how to sit in seiza in kendo.
By the way, in kendo we sit in certainly way so please learn this properly. We call it Saza Uki (左座右起).
Some points for you when sitting in seiza
- Have your sword in taito position
- Do not lean forward
- Always ready to draw out your sword

I am finding it difficult to stay in seiza for longer than a minute. Is this normal for beginners?
It is very normal. You just have to get used to it 🙂
I can’t sit in seiza without experiencing minor pain in my knees, are there any stretches I can do that will help.

sitting in Seiza for my first session was very painfull passed 15 minutes.what can i do to stay longer please?
Sorry for the late response. If you can sit for 15 min, you are doing well. You just have to get used to it.
You can use a pillow under your bottom when sitting in seiza to ease the pain.

Oh man, I’m practicing seiza and my legs are nearly paralyzed. I can’t stay in seiza for more than 1 minute. If I tolerate and seiza in 2 min then stand up, I can’t move. I can’t feel my legs at all. Can you help me?
Put a pillow under your butt and sit on it when in seiza. you need to gradually get used to it.
