Shitachi executes Men Suriage Men against Uchitachi in this kata.
Tips:
- Uchitachi is cutting down the sword to the chin in Kata No. 5.
- Uchitachi lets go the sword and relax after the bokuto is being suriaged.
- Shitachi takes hira-seigan, the blade should be facing down to the left a bit.
- Lift your hands slightly up when taking hira seigan
- The feet of Shitachi don’t move when lowering the sword on a way to hidari jodan.
- Zanshin should be present until you put your sword in “kamae wo toku” position.
- Be aware of the position of suriage. Execute suriage before the sword comes down low.
- Use both hands for suriage as if you are drawing a half circle.
