What I learned After All US Kendo Seminar 2013

Here is what I learned at All US Kendo Seminar 2013. To avoid a long loading time, I sacrificed its video quality for the file size. But I did not down-grade the sound quality so it should be OK. Let me know 🙂 Now Enjoy!

Kendo Training – Children

This is a 37 min video of kids training.  At the very end, shihan gives very important advice on jigeiko. You may be able to get some ideas for your training menu.

This is a video taken at a dojo I grew up. At the very end, shihan will talk about how they should do jigeiko. It is very important for us to remember as well. Enjoy!

Jigeiko Example: At a Dojo in Japan 2

This is just an example of jigeiko with a sensei. Please pay attention to how those students strike. They keep going forwards. It does not matter if they are counter-attacked or not, they keep going forwards. It is how we should train with senseis.

For example, many people try to block their opponent’s do strike while they are striking men. Once you decide to strike men, you should devote yourself into that men strike. Therefore, you should not even think about blocking once you start to move to strike.

Thanks

Jigeiko Example: At a Dojo in Japan

I do not want you to imitate what sensei does to the other guy such as foot sweep or pinning him down on the floor.
It is important to know when and how a high ranked people seize an opportunity to strike.

Again do not imitate just fancy moves. You will hurt your kendo friends if you do not know how to do them properly.

Thanks
