In Kata No. 5, shitachi learns men suriage men.

Uchitachi takes a step forwards onto the left foot to take jōdan. |
Against uchitachi ‘s left jōdan, shitachi holds a chūdan (or hira–seigan) with kensen to the left fist. |

At the right opportunity, uchitachi strikes the shōmen with a kiai, “YAH”. |

After shitachi executed suri-age technique, uchitachi allows the bokutō down to the right side naturally. |
Shitachi continues lifting up the bokutō over head then strikes shōmen without a pause by stepping forward from the right foot with a kiai, “TOH”. |

Without losing an eye contact, stay where he/she is until shitachi takes hidari–jōdan. |
Shitachi shows zanshin by lowering the kensen to the bridge of the nose. |
